Provisions for your hike

The nearest supermarket is just a few steps away from the Central holiday resort Flachau. You can get provisions for your hiking day from there. Especially recommended are thirst-quenching drinks such as water or apple juice spritzers, and snacks, fruit and muesli bars to keep your energy up.

For big appetites or a coffee along the way, we advise you to stop at one of the many chalets in the region. You can relax on their sun terraces and be pampered with culinary delights. Many of the chalets also have a playground, which shortens the break for your children.

Preparation

How to plan your hike

Initially plan smaller hikes - especially as a family with children. If the ascent is still mostly mastered by way of games, distractions and small rewards, the descent must not be ignored, because energy and motivation are needed here as well. Choose the right footwear and make sure to bring enough drinks and something to eat. Rain protection should be packed too, because the weather can change quickly in the mountains.

Hike to the Marbachalmen

Description

Marbachtal junction (1,106m) - front Marbachalm (1,183m) - back Marbachalm (1,244m) - return on the same route.
From the centre of Flachau, travel by car or Sportwelt bus towards Flachauwinkl to the Marbachtal junction (about 10km, parking available).

Then a leisurely hike along the broad, marked hiking trail, along the Marbach, to the front Marbachalm (Prechtlhütte hut) and then to the back Marbachalm (Ennslehenhütte or Anichhofhütte huts). Stop in one of the mentioned huts. Return to the Marbachtal junction on the same path.

Difficulty level:	Easy hike, wide path into the beautiful Marbachtal - only slight inclines.
Demands:	Does not make high demands of condition, also possible with a pushchair, sturdy shoes are recommended.

"The way of good wishes" (Weg der guten Wünsche)

Description

Marbachtal junction (1,106m) - front Marbachalm (1,183m) - back Marbachalm (1,244m) - return on the same route.
From the centre of Flachau, travel by car or Sportwelt bus towards Flachauwinkl to the Marbachtal junction (about 10km, parking available).

Then a leisurely hike along the broad, marked hiking trail, along the Marbach, to the front Marbachalm (Prechtlhütte hut) and then to the back Marbachalm (Ennslehenhütte or Anichhofhütte huts). Stop in one of the mentioned huts. Return to the Marbachtal junction on the same path.

Griessenkareck - Frauenalm - Flachauwinkl - Flachau

Description

Centre of Flachau (925m) - ascent to Griessenkareck (1,991m) - Saukarfunktel (2,028m) - Saukarkopf (2,014m) - Ahornkarkopf (1,923m) - back to Flachau (925m) with the Sportwelt bus.
From centre of Flachau via the Wastlsteig, Waldgasthof - Gasthof Latschenhof / Jandlalm continue on trail no. 41 to the ridge between Flachau and Wagrain.

Past the war memorial crosses and the "cut" along the Griessenkareck. Continue across Saukarfunktel to Saukarkopf and to Ahornkopf. Then descend to the Frauenalm and on to Flachauwinkl and return with the Sportwelt bus.

With the Flachau Summer Card, which is included free with your holiday at the Central holiday resort, the Sportwelt bus will take you to the surrounding villages for just € 1.00. Children under 6 years travel for free.
